What would the world be like if the future generation would know how to live in harmony with the environment? Eco-social education has entered the Finnish primary school curriculum to promote change from our present environmentally burdensome lifestyle to a more sustainable way of life. How can we support children education towards it? This colloquium gathers a set of international professionals and inspiring people from multidisciplinary fields to discuss the current eco-social crisis and imagine educational ways towards a better future.
In the midst of the current major cultural and eco-social crisis, we ponder.
Can we continue to educate our children like before?
Our work is triggered by our confusion about the eco-social crisis, about our dramatical disconnection from our environment, from others and from ourselves. In this Anthropocene Epoch, we think that it is crucial to raise pupils’ awareness about the fact that we are part of the web of life and to rethink our relationship with the world in order to re-imagine our future.
How can we give the next generation the chance to create a more empathetic humanity which is balanced, responsible and understands the interconnections among all things?
With this colloquium we hope to create a dialogue that will inspire the educational field to instigate action towards a better future.
